Info Day for Social Enterpreneurship

Thrakis Kinitro Social Enterprise and the Support Structure for Social Economy and Entrepreneurship successfuly organised the info day entitled: «Social entrepreneurship and the development of social enterprise network in the Region of East Macedonia and Thrace». The meeing took place in Komotini (Greece), on 8th December 2014 at 17.00 in the main room of the Engineers Chamber of Thrace.

 

At the opening of the meeting the members of Thra.Ki. Ms Louisa Saltsidou and Mr Vasilis Lepidas welcomed the participants and analysed the importance and contribution of social economy and the Social Enterprises Networks to the local community as well as their support for any groups of unpriviledged local citizens.

 

The meeting was attended by Mr Constantinos Geormas, Manager of the General Register of Social Economy, who talked about sound function practices of the various social enterprises and made references to potential opportunities, due to the new funding tools, for Social Networks, to the legislative framework developed by the Ministry of Labour as well as to the prospects of creating a Network of the various social enterprises in the Region of East Macedonia and Thrace.

 

Following that, the executives from the Support Structure of Social Economy and Enterpreneurship, Mr Yannis Tsoukalidis and Mr Antonis Kostas, presented the new proposal by the Ministry of Labour for the operation of the Regional Mechanism of supporting social enterprises as well as the significant opportunities and prospects to derive from the development of a formal or non-formal Network of Social Enterprises in Region of East Macedonia and Thrace.

 

The meeting was round by a discussion among the participants (members of the social enterprises) who had the chance to express any querries and proposals to Mr Geormas and the speakers regarding the functioning of a possible Network or Mechanism among them.

 

The meeting was chaired by Mr Periklis Polizoidis, professor at Democritus University of Thrace, while it was also attented by te Mayor of Nestos, Mr Vaggelis Tsobanopoulos, who constructively contributed to the discussion with his remarks.
